Plus, included in that price we accommodated a number of guests, arranged flowers, hair and make-up, photographer and decorations at the ceremony and evening venues.

Basically, all the bride did was turn up with her guests.

So, you see, there’s something for every budget and in France a little money goes a lot further. So, even if you are on a very small budget, France in fact, could be a more ideal location for you than the UK. A wedding abroad may provide the perfect justification for people who simply want a smaller, more personal affair, without offending certain friends and relatives. Conversely, France is accessible enough for people who do want a lavish affair and have all their friends present. At one of our weddings we’ve even had a guest who was scared of flying and had never left the country before. She came on the Euro Star. What a great experience to have for a first-time abroad!

If you are looking for a more modest day, you could simply book out a gorgeous restaurant in a stunning location. For this, you generally don’t pay a charge for the venue; you simply pay for the food and drink and French restaurants are renowned for offering fabulous food and wine at very reasonable prices (much cheaper than UK restaurants on average). Some of the restaurants in France are exquisite and in fantastic locations. Or seek permission from a local mayor to put up marquees in a favourite village and just get caterers in.
